Unsettled Settling

My friend, Jackie, sent me this and despite the typo, I hope it’s true! ❤

Moving is such a major b*tch.

It’s been a rough couple weeks, but I know we are getting there.

We secured a place and moved in over the weekend. I fell twice moving stuff out of the pod so have been pretty bruised and sore.

Jeremy took some flex time on Friday and miraculously emptied the second pod into the new garage before I could even get off work! I’m very grateful for that.

Saturday Jeremy put all the furniture back together while I got the major stuff organized and bought and we slept there for our first night! It’s not a huge space but it’s laid out very well and has tons of built in storage, which is amazing. There are also lots of hooks throughout the bedrooms and bathrooms, which I LOVE.

Sunday we went to the temporary rental and cleaned all morning and bought some fun red/orange chairs to contrast our blue couch. Our style is not for everyone but we like it. Unfortunately Sunday after we got back the a/c stopped working, which one really needs in New Mexico. Jeremy had a bit of a spiral but luckily we had our portable a/c from Oregon so we put that in until we could contact the landlord on Monday. Then Jeremy noticed the toilet in the master bathroom was leaking. All that to say, it’s been a rough start to our new home, but the landlord is addressing everything as fast as possible, so we are grateful for that (and grateful it’s not our responsibility!)

Being a renter again is definitely an interesting experience – has it’s perks and it’s drawbacks but it was definitely the right decision. It’s worth not being locked into anything given the rates and that we don’t know the area very well yet. I’m already a little unsure of being directly in a city again but it will be interesting to see how we feel in a year. It’s nice cause it has all the conveniences but also not a lot of space. By this time next year, we’ll have explored enough of this place to figure out what we want.

In the meantime, we are taking one day at a time; trying to balance a little bit of rest with settling in and putting stuff away and work and doing all the administrative bs that comes with moving. I have an appointment with the dmv tomorrow, hooray! It’s all good though, totally worth it with the hope that we can get into the forest this weekend.

On a medical front, other than being sore, I’m honestly doing pretty good. So grateful for that I booked appts for the dentist, a pcp and ent doctor, which is right down the street (and only someone like me would get excited about that!) I even had a massage today, which was a big help with my stroke hip.

Last week, I had blood work done and sent to my endocrinologist in Oregon. My tsh is FINALLY where it should be – after a year and 8 months! AND, my tumor marker also remained stable. Thank goodness for both of those. This vessel is really something else!

Jeremy is adjusting a normal 9-5. It’s been a lot for him as well but he is being a trooper. I’m hoping we can find some furniture this week and finally start settling now that the a/c appears to be running.

I’m so grateful for y’alls support. I don’t really know why you keep reading but we appreciate all the encouragement and well wishes through this crazy journey of life.
