This was yesterday, I didn’t feel like finishing the post:
I blame the anesthesia but I really hate everyone today.
The chest tube stitch is worse than I thought, and while it will just add to the canvas of other scars I have, it still managed to throw me off kilter all day. I did get to shower though, and whilee it’s always dicey to see yourself and try to re-familiarize yourself with your own body, it always feels good the first time after being in the hospital.
It’s also partially because I tried to force cognitive functioning to get some work done; when it just physically can’t happen yet. Anesthesia-brain is real and it doesn’t like having a task to complete. I managed through it and actually did it correctly, so yay!
Nonetheless I have to get my hours in to get paid. I was slighted out of 5 hours last week cause no one told me I had to be employed for 90 days before I could use the sick hours I accumulated. Annoying, but there’s nothing I can do now and frankly don’t think I could have worked over the weekend. It just sucks to get paid less. Everything. Just. Feels. Like. A. Struggle.
And my response is to keep eating. Nothing terribly bad, just alot, so my stomach hurts too. Why is that human nature? Alas, I’m rolling with it.
Today:
Is going mildly better. I’ve slept in a little both days, which I needed, and I walked on the treadmill at an incline both days. They say walking is the best thing for me and keeping a semblance of my routine keeps me sane, so that has been good for me. Even though I hate walking on a treadmill.
The hotel has waffle makers, so I made an expedition of purchasing gluten free waffle mix and mixed it up and trekked it down to breakfast this morning to make myself a fun treat. I’m still full, but it was delicious.

I’m waiting at my appointment with the neck surgeon (just a follow up from the December surgery). I figured I was here so might as well see him. He said everything from his end looks good. Phew.
Otherwise it’s just been managing my ibuprofen for pain and watching the Olympics. I haven’t had to take many codeine, which I’m grateful for, but did find that it gets uncomfortable if I space the ibuprofen out too long, so trying my best to keep up with that regularly.
Here are my battle wounds, which aren’t terrible, but are strange. They are more like scrapes than incisions. The gauze is covering the stitch I referred to above, which is better for yall, but it’s not too bad. Ps, no, that is not a nipple. This is not that kind of blog!

Here’s a pic from a walk with butterfly wings that Jenn made me take, my new sticker and our mountain view.

One day at a time!
