Well our anniversary celebration in Portland was a success!
We had such a lovely time and finally had a day to just chill out, go with the flow and wander to whatever we felt like. We haven’t had a day like that together in while.
We unfortunately missed the pride parade, but we went to the festival, which was really crowded but really cool to see. Our hotel was lovely! It was cute and funky, with a Jetsons vibe and very nice people working there. It even had a cute rooftop terrace where we sat after dinner.
I had the second-best cocktail I’ve ever had and then got fancied up and went to a really delicious dinner.
We did it up right to celebrate our 14 years!
Then the oncology appointment happened Monday morning. So much repressed anxiety was wrapped around this. Nonetheless, it was uneventful with no surprises; which is all I was hoping for! He agrees with the plan for the second surgery so far and wants to check back in afterwards to see what they have found. [Other than taking the lymph node out, they are also doing a Broncoscopy at the same time in order to look around in my lungs and make sure there is nothing else suspicious].
This makes sense to me. There is a chance that there is more than what the scan shows. The good news is that even if they find something, it’s likely going to be 10 or so years til I’ll have to take action on them. And there’s always a chance they don’t see anything else, which would be ideal. I’m just glad I am now established with OHSU incase I need anything in the future. The doctor was also extremely human and empathetic, which is something you see a small percentage of the time these days, sadly.
It really was the best news that we could ask for, but for whatever reason, I was still feeling quite doomy after the appointment. I realized I’m constantly waiting for another shoe to drop. We took a little walk in forest park, which is a huge park in the middle of downtown Portland, and the trees helped me to down regulate my nervous system. Luckily that bit of nature time really helped me release some of the stress.
We made it home last evening to Mckenzie, who got glowing reviews from the dogsitter. We were very relieved about that as well.
