The last couple days have gone pretty well.
I took the longest shower ever after we got back and took the remainder of the day to rest. Jeremy cooked for me and it was so nice to eat this that has flavor again.
Our hotel has a nice patio deck right by our room that leads our to the pool (that I can’t use) but also has tables, fire pits, and grills. We’ve been able to hang out there a bit each day.
Today I walked on the treadmill at a snails pace for ten minutes. After laying for 5 straight days, it felt good to move me legs, even just that little bit. After breakfast, we went back to sleep for a few hours. It was glorious.
The mental battle has begun. I’m trying very hard to not do anything that might be too much, but it’s like a magician whose pulled the rug out from under your identity. Suddenly things that would never even ever your mind to think twice about, just, hurt. Ripping a banana from its bunch.
Hurts.
Wtf.
That girl that body pumps 1/3 of her body weight is now unable to rip the damn banana! Sigh.
I learned before how to ask for help. I’m OK with it now. But asking for help for literally everything is frustrating.
Alas, I’m trying really hard. It has become my practice to try to be very aware of my actions.
Jeremy has been a trooper. I know this isn’t easy on him either. Today he cooked while I had PT with a home health company. The physical therapist was happy with my progress. Jeremy grilled some amazing chicken!
Tomorrow we have post op #1 with Dr. Gernon, the neck surgeon. Thursday we have post op 2 with the thoracic surgeon.
We’ll see what they have to say!
Now it’s off to bed, as I lay on 5 hotel pillows to try to pro myself up enough for comfort and holding one on my chest in preparation for the rogue cough!
[Also, we’re looking for any pleasant movie recommendations. No horror, war, consistent violence, etc please! ]
