Yesterday was a very long day!
Up at 530 to walk on the treadmill.
I had the post op appointments, which was full of anxiety, but went well. Bitch nurse was like a new person, so I couldn’t bring myself to say anything to her. Though she did tug extra hard to get the stitch out on my side where the chest tube was, which had apparently already made a sprint toward healing. I could have done without experiencinh that, but it’s over now and the rest will ‘fall out on its own’ apparently.
Everything on the xray looked fine, and was noted on the report as ‘unremarkable’ which is my favorite medical-ese word to hear.
The surgeon came in, asked if I had any questions and then said, “I hope I never see you again.”
Likewise, my friend. Though I did say I’d buy him a beer if he ever came to Oregon. He agreed and side- hugged me before scurrying on to the next patient.
I had a fairly busy work day, still managing some very slow cognitive functioning but getting it done.
Jenn and I headed out to the airport after hotel check out just to make sure we got there with plenty of time; which we did. Too much, in fact, that they wouldn’t let me check my bag yet! I sent her on her way so she could get home after putting her life on pause to be with me for a week. It would have been a very different, more complicated, trip, had I not had her to be there to support and drive me to all the things. I’m so grateful.
So then…airport
And more Airport.
But I made it home!
Jeremy came in to get my bags while his mom drove my car around to make it a seemless pick up. I’m so grateful. Made it home around 10:30.
It was so good to see Zie and sleep in my own bed. I’m definitely sore today, but I plan to take it easy today and continue the ibuprofen. I’m grateful that I’ve been managing pain with just that and not having to take narcotics.
I’m so damn grateful.
