Spring snow

Every time we are drawn to look up into the night sky and reflect on the awesome beauty of the universe, we are actually the universe reflecting on itself. And this changes everything. —Brian Swimme and Mary Evelyn Tucker

<I wrote this Friday but didn’t have service to publish until today. Thank you,  Earth. >

It’s snowing here today,  and this week flew by! I blame the time change,  but i had very little energy this week

Ugh. I’m OK with taking a week and resting,  but i don’t like feeling so drained. I’ve heard similar things from friends this week , so I’m hopeful it is just the time change.

Also, it always makes me feel sad that life is flying by me. Alas, another lesson in the importance of presence. Growth.

Some interesting happenings this week.

I had a meeting with a representative from Med-El, which creates a crazy contraption called a bone bridge. They drill into your skull right behind the ear and conducts sound theif the bone,  so it bypasses the past of my ear that doesn’t work! That piece they insert is a magnet which you attach a processor,  and voila,  you can hear.

What?!

I’ve been deaf for so long, and I don’t understand why i’m just learning about this.  Alas,  I have no intention of allowing someone to put a hole in my head this year,  my poor body deserves a break for now! However, I am super curious to learn about it and see if it’s something I’d be interested in on the future.  I spoke with a super nice guy this morning that had it done a year and a half ago and he really likes it and talked candidly about his experience.  I’m really grateful he was open to speaking to me.

We shall see.

I had an appointment with the neck surgeon on Monday.  It was a $50 six-minute conversation, and gratefully he thinks all looks good, so that was reassuring.

We had a lovely visit from our amazing friends from Austin last weekend.  It was so great to have them here and for them to meet zie! We packed alot into 4 days;  showed them multiple spots at this beautiful place, ate good food, and just generally refilled our cups.  I’m so grateful that they made the trek. 💓

It’s snowing,  but we had reserved this weekend for camping, so we’re doing it. It’s supposed to rain but we’re going to go out and see how it goes. If it’s awful,   we can always go home. We’re both craving some more nature!

We also made a few of our favorite dishes from Japan this week! I say we,  but it was mostly Jeremy. They were both delicious.  One was a (surprisingly) pretty healthy Japanese savory pancake called Okonomiyaki and the other was the traditional buckwheat soba noodles with pork and mushrooms.  I didn’t get a photo of that.

I made a cake (mainly cause I wanted to eat one) and am trying to grow a gluten free sourdough starter. The cake turned out pretty good, well see if I’m successful with the sourdough🤞

A couple ways to liven up the week😆

On a bummer note,  I had an old coworker reach out this week cause she was diagnosed with the same thyroid cancer have.  I also had a current coworker find out she has breast cancer. When she messaged me,  she said,  “I don’t know why I just felt like I had to tell you.”  I stuttered for a second because I realized i hadn’t really told anyone at this job.

I hate that anyone had to go through something like that,  and I’m so grateful both reached out, cause now they have another friend and supporter in their corners.
