Chapter 2023

For the whole year (plus), I’ve been wondering where we would end up.
Who couldn’t, while we were on the road and away from everyone we love and separated from society that we couldn’t interact with much due to covid.
One year exploring ten locations. It sounds like a dream.
And it certainly was. A goddamn masterpiece of an adventure in which we got to see amazing landscapes, explore different dwelling types and navigate the flora and fauna of a country we thought we knew and yet kept discovering. Almost everyday, something new.
Additionally, from west to east, desert to massive pines, from sea level to high altitude; the year was also expensive, exhausting, lonely, and one of the most incredible growth and learning experiences that we could ever have imagined. It goes hand in hand.
Nothing worked out the way we ‘expected’. And that, my friends, was the most amazing part about it.
Now to the next chapter! Jeremy accepted a job and we moved to Redmond, Oregon about a month ago. We drove the 21 hours up here and settled into our 3-month rental while he went off to work again (I kept my same job).
As much as an adjustment as each move was last year, this has been intense! We weren’t apart very much in the last 3 years and now he’s gone a week at a time for work. All the nonsense that comes with moving as well… establishing new doctors, transferring prescriptions, and looking for a house!
There’s a lot going on, and we miss our community a ton. But overall, we both feel like we’re supposed to be here. It feels right, and things seem to be falling into place.
Our whole lives, we’re told the story of what the ‘normal’ trajectory of life is ‘supposed’ to be. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it… if that’s what you want. I’ve just never felt aligned to that path. I don’t know what my path is or where I’ll end up, but all this movement, exploration, and personal growth is what makes me feel alive. One day at a time.
